I have always found Rina's music interesting since I first heard Where U Are. I really recommend you check out more of her music, but I felt this song was really important and wanted to talk about it.

This song is not only the visual but audio embodiment of the 2000's. The song starts, and also implements in other parts, a more rocky feel to it with a heaviness to the guitars and drums, before flowing into a more 2000's R&B, the song reminds me in areas of Jennifer Lopez's music. As you probably know by now I love music that makes me nostalgic and takes me on a trip down memory lane. The video also does this as it shows Telemarketing, which I remember being everywhere when I was a child.

This use of Telemarketing is perfect for the song. This song critics consumerism when there are things going on in the world that should be more important. The constant need to be on top of the trends, making those who comply just another replica in the system. I feel Rina is showing this by showing herself as a robot in the music video. We have a need for more of this stuff even though it would be better to put that money or product to a better use. Making humans into robots as we are made to think we need these things, as we take 'in as much as [we] can hold'. As we pay extortionate prices for things that were made by people who are over worked and under-payed as some of these big companies drain them.

This song has a really important message as I think we can all do a little to help a lot. Whether it be things for the environment or giving to charity, supporting independent companies, there is so much the individual can do. I'm not saying I'm perfect there is a lot that I myself need to work on, but I think we can all make small steps in the right direction. The companies won't change until we force them to change, it reminds me a little of a video I watched on Greenwashing, which I will link the video down below, as it is something that I think needs to be spoken about.

The companies don't want to hear us say 'no, no' they want us to say 'give me just a little bit more' and 'yes, yes'. Just because it has a name and everyone has it, doesn't mean it's 'luxury' or any better than the individual companies products. At the end of the day all we have 'left is immaterial, and the price we paid is unbelievable'. My favourite line in this song is 'When all this time, Heaven was in our eyes', we have all that we need in many respects but we feel like we need more and more and unfortunately some of these things create a lot of excess waste. This song in my opinion is so important as we look at ways to reverse climate change but also as people who are always talking about how individual we are. There are so many important changes we can make and to support those people who aren't a part of a big brand. I think this song is asking us what are we trying to do to change it.

I really enjoy this song and it feels like it has an ever growing importance in this world. I hope you enjoyed this piece as much as I enjoyed sharing my opinion on it haha. Thank you as always for reading x
