Some Kinda Love - Loony

GothMoth

We can all use some soul in our lives. Soul music is so beautiful and as described of the soul.

I stumbled across this song when listening to Declan McKenna. YouTube blessed me with this gem of a song. Some Kinda Love, is a very floaty song (if that makes sense), the song makes me feel as if I am drifting through life in a bubble. I think this is partly because parts of the instrumental reminds me of bubbles popping. It's like giving your inner child a room full of bubbles to play around with, to make your soul feel light. Loony's voice is also really soft and feels like it is floating over the instrumentals, making it really relaxing. I don't think I can praise this song enough. The song has a lot of ebb and flow in it, as either the instruments or Loony's voice comes and goes, like the tide. I also want to really express my appreciation for the piano at the end, I love that part so much, it felt like the perfect way to end the song.

So the song is beautiful in my opinion. So are the lyrics the same? Yes, definitely. The lyrics perfectly describe how loony is feeling, and how this love has changed things. This floating feeling within the song goes perfectly with how she is feeling. At first I thought this song was focusing on being in love with someone, but the more I listen to and read the lyrics, she seems to be singing about the inner love she has found. This might not be the case for everyone, but she sings about how her flaws 'don't make [her] bad', and her jealousy will no longer 'make [her] wanna quit'. She also feels like she is now 'a part of everything' and 'everything in the universe seems to shift a little bit'. She has found a 'new sense of being', this is one of the lines that makes me think this is about self love, as she also states 'if you left me, wouldn't change my mind', so as she has found her self worth and self love if people chose to leave her, it wouldn't change how she feels or make her sad. I think this is a really beautiful message, I love songs that tell us that it's okay to love ourselves, we all have flaws and we have to accept that, we can work on some of them, but those we can't we should accept.

I really love this song as it speaks to me. I really hope you enjoyed this piece and that it made you want to listen to this song. As always thank you for reading, and see you in the next one x
