Remember Me - Vincint

GothMoth

For this piece, I will be referring to the acoustic version (as I tend to listen to that one more). This song is on the sadder side. It is so beautiful, and I feel like it would be a good break up song.

Firstly I want to talk about Vincint. His voice is incredible; there is so much range and emotion in his voice. No matter how I am feeling, he can always make me feel the emotions behind the song as if they were mine. Vincint tends to have breathiness to his voice when hitting high notes, which creates a whispering feeling. This tends to make some lyrics in this song feel more like his inner thoughts than his spoken words. He has a beautifully unique voice. It is so powerful, even when singing pianissimo (very softly) it still hits your senses hard. This shows his wonderful use of projection.

The lyrics make me think that he is in love with this guy, but he can't tell his crush about his feelings, and though it hurts Vincint to see him with someone else, leading Vincint to say 'I know I should tell you, but you seem so happy with him'. So due to this, he feels like he needs to move on: 'I need to get over you'. With this decision, Vincint just wants one thing, to be remembered by this guy, as it will 'make it easier to leave'. To ask to be remembered shows how much this person means to Vincint. The whole situation is described as 'torture.' He is in a catch 22 as it hurts to stick around but what he wants to say hurts even more: 'I could tell you the truth, but the truth hurts'. I think most can relate to this song. In any relationship, if it hurts to be around the person, you want to leave, but it can hurt even more to tell that person that you don't want to be in that situation anymore. Therefore showing that Vincint like many of us is considering leaving without a word. Vincint knows that this relationship was never intended to be the way he wants and that sometimes what we want we just don't get. He loves this guy so much that he hopes he finds someone who loves him 'Half as much as' Vincint does. When Vincint sings the second to last chorus, the lyrics are slower and sadder, before becoming more upbeat. But the song slows and becomes more vocally focused at the end, showing that perhaps that happy feeling of the song is a facade. Much like his feelings, presumably pretending to be happy around the guy he loves, but really he is hurting inside.

Honestly, I love this song so much. I listened to it continuously when it was released. It makes me want to dance and cry at the same time. It also has helped me fall asleep so many times, as Vincints voice is so calming. I really hope you will check out the song if you haven't already. Please let me know what you think. I don't get much feedback, but I would love to hear from my readers.

You're all wonderful, and I hope you are all doing well. I love you all. Thank you for reading.
