Watashi Wa Ame - SiD

GothMoth

Okay, I decided we will go back to Japan today. I have been wanting to listen to Visual Kei so much recently. It's basically Japanese goth rock for all those interested. It focuses on the look of the people as they often look anime like or gothic.

I was thinking about how I needed some new Visiual Kei to listen too. One of my favourite groups is SiD by the way. But as I was thinking this I went on Spotify and clicked on a Visual Kei playlist and SiD was the first band. Kinda felt like fate since I was thinking about them today haha.

This song is very different to what i'm used to hearing from them. The song starts with a piano bringing in a guitar making it feel like we should be in a Jazz bar to listen to it. In the opening there are the steady staccato chords of the piano with the soft acoustic guitar and drums. Mao has a very interesting voice. I have always been interested by his voice, I can't explain why I find it so interesting but I do haha. It really does feel like the best place to listen to this song is in a Jazz bar. It is really calming.

The song is actually pretty sad. I was just looking at the translation and it feels like they're describing themselves as bad luck. Saying they are the 'signs of oncoming rain'. It sounds like the song is to someone as if they are apologising for this bad luck, as it constantly rains. For the brief moment that the rain stops they say 'thank you' as it brings a sort of hope to them. The first lyric is one I find really picturesque 'Like a child frantically searching for a four-leaf clover', it is clear from this line that the person is looking for some kind of luck or hope. They say they 'can't get drunk today' but to also 'pass the bourbon'. As if they are trying to stop themselves but they need something to numb the pain they feel from this unluckiness.

I find SiD's songs really interesting but I really like the lyrics of this song. They're very picturesque and show a different side of sadness compared to other songs. It feels a lot more poetic.

Thank you all again for reading. I just wanted you to know I have an Instagram just for my blog. If you want to follow it: https://www.instagram.com/gothmoth22/ I hope you're all having an amazing day x
