I actually got introduced to this song whilst I was watching a CrankthatFrank video. I really enjoy his family friendly alternative content haha. Almost as much as I love this song.
The music really reminds me of grunge music from the 90's. It feels very rough (in a good way). I find it really funny that the song starts with Bonnie saying Spaghetti, before the music starts. Then you hear Jonno timing the guitarists in. I really love this because it feels like you are watching some friends having a jam session in their garage. There are some really interesting effects that are put on the vocals, like when Bonnie sings 'I don't need your help, you should probably save yourself' it sound like she is under water, showing a secret struggle within the music. I also really like the sound of the piano that seems to be brought into the song a little later although it fades out again. The way the music hones in on Bonnie's voice towards the end is a really nice way to end the song. This song overall is super energetic, I feel tired just listening to it haha. I can definitely see there being a mosh pit when this is played at their concerts.
The lyrics of the song are full of angst. The song definitely feels like it is talking about mental health within a person, or that the person is blaming themselves for something 'I have blood on my hands'. The lyrics that suggests mental health to me are 'Thought i'd be better, But i'm written off to tell you the truth', it reminds me of when people think they are finally doing well and then falling back into the darker habits within mental health issues. There is also a few dark images embedded in the lyrics, saying 'limbs in a noose', 'bones i'm breaking' and 'I set fires so deliberately', these lyrics to me sound like the person is struggling and so they seek danger to make them self feel alive, which is why they wait till they can 'taste the smoke' as it is dangerously close. The song talks about some difficult effects of mental health, put does it in a really creative way.
Overall, this is definitely one if my favourite recent songs. I really hope you enjoyed this piece, and if you did I would be super grateful if you would share it. Thank you as always x
