Okay Gabe this is for you!! I actually remember when you first spoke to me about Orville Peck and you weren't sure I would like his music. Look at me now haha.
Orville Peck is a Canadian country musician, with a truly iconic style, not just in music but his fashion as well. He released his first self produced album called Pony in 2019, and he has 6 singles starting in 2017.
Okay, a bit of a weird compliment but Orville Peck has really good vocal control in my opinion. Though there is that usual western feel in his music, there is also a 1950's rock feel with in, especially with his vocal style. I really love the balance in these genre's it makes his music feel old but also new. He has a really beautiful style. His music makes me feel like i've been taken back in time and should be enjoying a summer road trip. To me his music is very refreshing. I can definitely see his influence from Patti smith in his music, especially from songs such as Dancing Barefoot, I was reminded of her when listening to Turn to Hate. In his recent song Queen of the Rodeo I get some Elvis vibes within the song. Obviously no musician is truly like others, they all have their uniqueness.
Overall, I really love the vibe and feelings within Orville Peck's music. He's a really unique artist with his musical style, if you haven't checked his music out yet please do. Personally my favourite song is Nothing Fades Like the Light. A lot of his music has different feelings with in them not only in the music but the lyrics, I love the way he can change his voice depending on the mood of the song, I think this is something a lot of musicians should do as it adds more personality to their songs. I also recommend listening to his cover of Dolly Parton's song I Will Always Love You.
